A man was stabbed with a pair of scissors and a woman was punched in the face after checking on the welfare of a man who was lying in their garden in inner-city Perth on Wednesday evening.
Police say just before 6pm the pair went to check on the man who was lying in the front yard of their home near the corner of Lincoln Street and Beaufort Street in Highgate when he stood up and became aggressive.
He then punched the 30-year-old woman in the face before walking away along Beaufort Street towards Perth. When challenged again further down the road, he stabbed the man, who is in his 50s, three times with a pair of scissors he was carrying.
The stabbing victim was rushed to hospital via St John Ambulance and will likely require surgery.
Police located a man fitting the description of the attacker near the intersection of Newcastle and Beaufort Street and were forced to draw their Tasers to arrest him.
A 45-year-old man from Perth has been charged with grievous bodily harm and common assault. He was refused bail and will face Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.
