A shopkeeper told the Mail Online that the group were “mostly from Romania” and would settle down outside the businesses at 8.30pm each night.
He said the size of the “peaceful” group has “increased a lot” recently.
“I only see them at night…and in the morning I am left to clear up their mess,” he said.
This comes amid a spike in homelessness after hotels reopened for business and evicted rough sleepers after housing them during the height of the coronavirus lockdown.
Around 15,000 people have been housed in hotels or emergency accommodation after the government set aside £3.2m in funding as part of the ‘Everyone In’ scheme in which local authorities were required to house vulnerable people.
But, homeless charities have warned that thousands have been kicked out of on the street despite the ongoing threat of Covid-19.
