Carlton has regained forward Mitch McGovern among three changes for Thursday night’s must-win clash against Greater Western Sydney at Metricon Stadium.

After last round’s loss to Collingwood, McGovern comes into the team for his first match since Round 8 after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Sam Petrevski-Seton, who was rested against the Magpies, and Matthew Cottrell also come into the Carlton line-up.

Lachie Plowman and Michael Gibbons are both out injured, while ruckman Tom De Koning has been omitted.

Skipper Patrick Cripps has been named after hurting his knee late in last Sunday’s loss to the Magpies. He was cleared of structural damage.

The Giants have made just one change, bringing in Jeremy Finlayson for the injured Josh Kelly.

Melbourne has made four changes for its clash against the Sydney Swans at Cazaly’s Stadium.

Bayley Fritsch returns to the team after being dropped for last week’s match against St Kilda for arriving late to training, while Alex Neal-Bullen, James Harmes and Joel Smith have also earned recalls for the match in Cairns.

Neal-Bullen’s return comes after serving a four-match suspension for a sling tackle on young Crown Will Hamill.

Michael Hibberd will miss the match with an injured ankle, which he rolled against St Kilda last week, while Kysaiah Pickett has been “managed” and Aaron vandenBerg and Mitch Hannan have been omitted.

The Swans have made one change, bringing in Lewis Taylor for James Bell, who has been dropped.

Dual premiership defender Nathan Broad and small forward Jack Higgins will return to Richmond’s side for Wednesday night’s clash against Fremantle on the Gold Coast.

The pair will replace Dylan Grimes (hamstring) and Kane Lambert (hip).

Hardwick backed the recently omitted Broad to do the job in a backline that will be without Grimes for the first time since early 2019.

“He comes in in good form and we are very confident he will be able to do the job.”

The Tigers have decided to err on the side of caution with Lambert, with Hardwick describing his injury as a minor hip issue,

“Kane Lambert’s pulled up a little bit sore as well,” Hardwick said.

“He’s got a bit of a hip complaint, so we’ll take the conservative option and give him a spell this week.

“He’s just got a little bit sore over the last couple of weeks, so we just want to make sure he’s right for the back end of the year.”

Josh Caddy is still a week away with a hamstring complaint.

At Fremantle, former Demons forward Jesse Hogan will make his return among three inclusions for the Dockers.

It will be Hogan’s first game since injuring his calf in Round 5.

Blake Acres is also back for the Dockers along with first-year forward Michael Frederick.

Connor Blakely (omitted), Liam Henry (omitted) and Brett Bewley (groin) will miss.

Defender Luke Ryan has been named after landing heavily in a marking contest against GWS.

Essendon skipper Dyson Heppell will play his first game since Round 2 as the club battles to stay in touch with the top eight.

The Bombers have recalled Heppell, who has been battling an ankle injury, along with ruckman Sam Draper and Michael Hurley.

Brayden Ham, Andrew Phillips and Mason Redman have been dropped.

The Eagles have swung four changes, with Lewis Jetta, Jack Redden, Oscar Allen and Jackson Nelson back.

Jarrod Brander, Nic Reid, Josh Kennedy and Jamie Cripps are out from last week’s loss to Richmond.
